Well, the Argentina team has landed in Buenos Aires...

And boy, is it ever hot!

It has been a crazy time getting here, from the get go! So as some of you (or all) might already know, we had a bit of a passport scare with Michael's passport having gone missing on Monday night. We realized it at 10 pm when it was too late to get it from the island to the mainland in time for our flight. So while we were trying to figure out where it was, we stopped to pray. No joke, just after we finished praying, Michael thought to call his mom to check if it was in the bag that he had given her for after Argentina. Sure enough, it was in that bag! Then the challenge was getting it to Vancouver from Port Moody. Enter Chris Downey. He saved the day! He brought the passport and we were able to make our flight on time, with all of us onboard.

Thus began our approximately 25 hour journey to Buenos Aires. And that's not including ferry time. Most of us got really bad sleeps (or in my case, no sleep at all) on the plane and so we are at about 35 hours being awake. I don't know how we're still functioning...

Buenos Aires is gorgeous and the weather is amazing! Actually, it's super hot and humid but it is definitely an improvement on Vancouver's weather... Sorry, Vancouver team! Here's hoping that you'll have sunshine while you're there.

Please pray for us as we begin preparing tomorrow for a retreat this weekend. Pray for the kids who are going to come and pray for us as we lead this retreat. We got to meet some of them about 45 minutes ago and they're super cool, so it should be really sweet!

God is good and He goes with all of you as you go! Praying for you all! Love you!

The Mission trips are here! I can't believe how quickly they came. May God do great works through us, and I hope that this can be a time for us all to learn to lean on our Father when we don't have the strength ourselves. God be with us!

Update On My Dad

It feels like I have been away a long time already, not like I was with you in chapel yesterday. My dad came through the operation okay, and it seems that the cancer was contained and hasn't spread, though more tests are to come. But there will still be tough days ahead for my dad, with at least six days in the hospital, and it is uncertain how we will make sure he gets the care he and my mom will need after I leave. So thanks for your past and continuing prayers. I am still not sure how long I will be here, but likely it will be to the end of Reading Break, and possibly a couple days after. Please pray for me too - my rough voice turned into a cold the day I came here, and I really don't want my parents to catch it. Between that and looking after everyone here, I am kinda tired. I hope you are having a good start to your break!

Update from Brent

Hey Kaleo's I wanted to let you know what's happening in my life lately.
Well, so far so good! I am super blessed! I have started doing outreach with my friend in Red Deer and it's really fun!! We just walk around town and love on people and tell them about our loving Father! We also pray for the sick and we got to see one man's back pain leave instantly and his leg grew out! Wow.. that was awesome, praise God!

Other than that I have been trying to figure out some longer term plans.. and so far i have been feeling that God is calling me to Africa, to a missionary school. It is really practical learning (speakers come and speak to the class, live as a missionary and practice what you are learning) and as far as I know there isn't much acedemics at all, if any? It doesn't specify but I am definitly more of a practical learner and it seems very practical, you actually live as a missionary there, with hundreds of orphan children which were once street children and some of them former prostitutes and some scavenged food from the garbage dump. I feel a call to go there and I will be applying real soon.

I have been thinking about starting up a life group at my house, where a bunch of people would get together and talk about Christ, pray for each other, do outreach together, teach and learn from eachother, kinda like home church or bible study except spontaneous and no set schedule of what we would do. Well see what happens with that, if i start it up or not.

I am still learning lots, i have 6 books lined up to read and have read some other books already. God has also brought together a good facebook family for me, so when I go on there I'm not just wasting time anymore :), the Holy Spirit is guiding me and teaching me through others, the video's, links and statuses they post, and talking with them.

Anyways I am so stoked for you all going to mt washington, your gunna have a blast!! I still really hope to come for the surfing trip (when is that again Jim?) Miss you, thinking and praying for you all! Don't worry about me I am very blessed and my relationship with Christ is just getting deeper and deeper, it brings me joy and peace, this Christian life is abundant, we are so blessed!!

True Inspiration Is Impossible to Fake

Hey My fellow Kaleoites!

Well to say the least, I am so excited to see all of you guys again. I missed you.

My break has been good, frustrating at times but refreshing, and even though I didn't get a lot done, I actually don't mind.

God has given me great opportunities to minister to the people in Leader and surrounding area which I didn't think were plausible for this small town, but leave it up to my pastor to be creative, haha.

Christmas was spent with both sides of the family but the most enjoyable thing was New Years. I didn't have any plans for New Years and I was thinking to myself, "I am a college student and I am doing nothing for New Years... that is sad." So I decided to have my own little shindig. I invited some of my camp friends, my bestie, and two people from my church. I like hosting a good part. So, I made homemade eggnog, cookie pizza and complete with a chocolate fountain. We had a lumberjack theme so everyone wore some good ol' flannel. We played pictionary, made a fort and watch Inception. It was a really good night and I invited silly Ryan but he declined, how rude! haha, just kidding.

It is crazy to think tomorrow I will see most of you. I hope you enjoy the rest of this break.
